Daryl recently participated in one of our flight classes here at X4 Drones. He took the time to write to us about his experience. We think he provides such valuable insight that we’re sharing it with you, with his permission of course.
I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated attending your INTRODUCTION TO FLIGHT training course. I am a rank amateur in the world of Drones. I dropped in to your store to buy my grandson a quality, entry level drone for his birthday. After talking to your staff and reading a little more about unmanned air vehicles, I realized that delivering a “flying chain saw with a bomb” into the hands of a youngster without proper orientation might not be a good idea. So, I signed up for your course.
I entered the training room without the least idea of what the hobby/profession was all about. I left with a solid understanding of the technology, an overview of the components of a drone and best of all, a working knowledge of how to fly them. I appreciated your “plain language’ approach and your continual gauging my understanding with the willingness to take the time to explain complex concepts.
Your focus on safety, explanation of government involvement and the need to think before you fly opened my eyes to the fact that flying drones is not like playing with model trains. It is akin to learning to drive a car. There are responsibilities and consequences. Parents would be well advised to take this course before giving even the simplest of UAVs to their kids.
Armed with newly acquired knowledge, the introduction of the drone to my grandson went well and he has expressed a real interest in the hobby. I suspect we will be back in your shop shortly for a First-Person-View vehicle. Thanks again for the excellent introduction to the world of UAVs.
Thank you, Daryl!
